Zeekr Is Bringing Video Games to Its Cars, but You’ll Need a Subscription

Zeekr has announced a partnership with N-Dream to bring AirConsole gaming to selected vehicles in Europe. The system turns the car’s infotainment display into a gaming screen, while passengers use their smartphones as controllers.

No separate console is required.

The announcement came during the Paris Motor Show in October 2026, where Zeekr demonstrated the technology to visitors. The company plans to introduce AirConsole on selected European models before the end of the year through an over-the-air software update.

There’s one detail worth checking before getting excited about it. Access will require Zeekr Connected Premium, the manufacturer’s subscription package for additional connected services.

Zeekr hasn’t specified which games will be available initially or published a complete list of compatible vehicles. Those details will matter to owners hoping to use the feature in a car they already have.

The setup itself is straightforward. Players scan a QR code displayed on the infotainment screen, connect their phones and use them to control the game. There’s no need to carry additional hardware or connect a conventional gaming controller.

For families, that could make a difference during longer journeys, particularly when the car is stationary and passengers are waiting.

Electric vehicles have created an interesting opportunity for this kind of entertainment. Charging stops can last considerably longer than filling a petrol tank, leaving occupants with time to spend inside the vehicle.

Of course, playing games isn’t the only way to fill those minutes. Many modern cars already offer video streaming, music services and other connected features. AirConsole simply adds another option.

The subscription requirement makes the announcement slightly less straightforward.

Someone who already pays for Connected Premium may see gaming as a welcome addition. For an owner who doesn’t use the other services, subscribing mainly to play games could be harder to justify.

Zeekr hasn’t announced a separate AirConsole price, so it’s too early to calculate what the feature would cost over several years.

There’s also the question of compatibility. A software update can add functionality without requiring a new vehicle, but that doesn’t necessarily mean every existing Zeekr will receive it.

The manufacturer has only confirmed a rollout across selected European models.

Zeekr introduced the partnership while expanding its presence across Europe. Its range now includes the X, 001, 7X, 7GT and 9X, although the company hasn’t identified which will support AirConsole first.

Owners will need to wait for those announcements before knowing whether their car is included.

For now, the most interesting part isn’t the gaming technology itself. It’s Zeekr’s decision to make another in-car feature part of a paid connected-services package.
